check out my homie jason’s blog
new blog covering the hottest ish on the streets
i already knew it would be tough making a new core group of friends/ network moving to a new city without the help of a catalyst such as school. everyone that i currently hang out with is a bay area transplant who has moved to la, or went to davis for college. i haven’t made many “l.a, l.a”, meaning those that actually live in the main west/ central la limits (santa monica, hollywood, beverly hills, etc), but i have met quite alot that live more in the outer radius areas.
making friends that you can consistently call up and kick it is though, but that;s how it probably works around here. hollywood is all about who you know, always name dropping, stating what you done with so and so (maybe thats why the game name drops so much in his raps). maybe it actually is just developing acquaintance type relationships instead of consistent friendship. this actually is better for my persona as i have a hard time finding anything specific niche that i can fit in with. i like so many different things that i cant classify myself to be anything. plus i’m not really a pro/expert at the things i like, which makes it more difficult.
i like the sneakers, streetwear, hypebeast crowd. i hang out on fairfax often, the hypebeast capital of la, and met some cool people, but sometimes i just feel too old for that scene
i like art (urban art, museums, photography, film) crowd. i’ve have attended a bunch of gallery openings, festivals, etc by myself, but i’m more of a fan than an expert so its hard to engage in the details with the people, if i dont know what the hell im talking about .
i like the hiphop scene. i love going to shows, checking out live performances, chopping it up with the hood folks on who’s the best mc. branching off this, i do prefer grubbing at local hood spots than anything fancy. i’m not hesitant about heading down to crenshaw to get fried chicken, mac and cheese, and gravy at night if thats what im craving for.
i like the ultra trendy, swanky scene. i like attending getting decked out, looking fly like #1 stunna, hitting a swanky ass restaurant/ bar or whatever is hot at the moment, just to be in the scene. yeah, i’m that la now.
lastly i like to party, be it pool parties, exclusive get togethers, rooftop shindigs, clubs (no azns spots please), i live in one of the more active places to party, so why not attend such occasions?
theres plenty more stuff i’m interested in.
its tough to build networks in such specifics, if you dont have much to offer except for a cool guy to hang out with. realistically i am not gonna find many people who have interest in everything i have, so i gotta focus more on each niche and building from there. or just meet the most perfect girl on the planet who just satisfies every companionship need.
i use to be much more arrogant a few years ago, and i think i’m gradually building back up that swag living down here. there are alot of dicks and douches in la, but this isnt a city for pushovers. if you got what it takes, talk you ish.
this post is all over the place, but who cares. i know you read the entire thing and found it somewhat interesting.

one of my biggest flaws is not being able to hold long term interest…in pretty much anything. i set forth on taking on new hobbies, and eventually get lazy or lose motivation. the rex 365 project is the probably the most extensive personal project i’ve set forth on since collecting basketball cards back in the youngster days or running the rphonics website. i attempted to watch tv series ie true blood, 24, lost, and get into the hype and hooplah, but after a few episodes i just realize i have other things to do with my time. when i meet a new girl, and she has some potential, i usually have a threshold of a couple weeks before i lose interest in the wooing and go about my way. overall i tend to be more interested in what i will/can do later and when later comes, i’m already concentrated on what’s after that.
i’m a schemer
maybe it i keep my goals in text:
enroll in dj class, plan fall excursion, volunteer work, meet a shorty or two, part time/ free lance blog opportunities
